By sharing your unique skills and experience, you’ll help generate new ideas and ways of doing things, helping the communities you work in lift themselves out of poverty. Your New Role: Padraic McKeon from Co. Mayo previously volunteered with VSO Ireland as a Teacher Educator in Karamoja. We’re looking for experienced Teacher Educators to volunteer on our Irish Aid funded education programme over the next three years. This is based in Karamoja, one of the poorest regions in Uganda where educating girls is often not seen as a priority. In one district, only 6.4% of girls finish primary education. As a VSO volunteer, you’ll share your skills with local teachers and school leaders, helping to create a increasingly inclusive education environment where all children, but expressly girls, can shepherd and receive largest quality learning. Typical tasks will include: Supporting teachers and inspectors to create a increasingly inclusive environment in schools where all children can receive largest quality education Working the with District Education Office to identify the challenges well-expressed girls’ education Training and mentoring school leadership members Strengthening the topics of local Community Based Organisations to reduce the negative vein towards educating girls Planning and organising school supervision visits to oversee teaching quality Communicating weightier practices and lessons learnt with teachers and school leaders to modernize overall teaching standards These roles are for one year, and embark at various times throughout the next three years.
